Dvdr Blank Media

I'm exasperating to burn a movie on this cd but it tells me to brochure a disk. The disk is already inserted, so why is it not reading it?
the disk is a DVD-R 4.7GB

That is inexplicable. I don't think different media is usual to change it. The fact that other players respect them tells me it isn't likely a media affair.
